Kerala trekker rescued after 45-hr-long operation, he says ‘Thanks Indian Army’

The 23-year-old trekker from Kerala, R Babu, will soon be airlifted. He was stuck in a cleft of a hill in Palakkad district since Monday. The rescue operation was carried out jointly by the Indian Army, the Navy and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

Daily Covid caseload rises slightly to 71,365; active cases below 900,000

Army team reaches trapped Kerala trekker R Babu, likely to be airlifted

Twenty-three-year-old R Babu, along with three of his friends, trekked the hill in Malampuzha in Kerala’s Palakkad district on Monday and was involved in the accident later that evening. He is trapped there since then and the state government has sought the help of Indian Army to rescue him.

Covid restrictions to be eased in Kerala; Schools to function normally 

Currently, the classes are being conducted with 50 per cent attendance. The evaluation meeting has also decided to consider increasing the number of pilgrims for the religious festivals including the Aluva Sivarathri, Attukal Pongala and Maraman convention.

The state government had on Friday to start offline classes for students of Classes 10, 11 and 12 and college students from February 7 and classes for children studying in Classes 1 to 9, creche and kindergarten from February 14.
