The INS Building was built in 1932 and served as an immigration and detention center for over 60 years.
In February, Metropolitan King County Council and Councilmember Joe McDermott awarded a one-time grant of $20,000 to Friends of Inscape LLC. Friends of Inscape is a tenant-led grassroots organization, set up in 2021, to raise funds for the purchase of the former INS Building, at 815 Seattle Blvd. S. The property was listed for sale in March of that year.
