Meade County girls’ basketball opened its Christmas tournament schedule with a loss Sunday afternoon.
Taking on Sacred Heart at Bullitt East’s Queen of the Commonwealth tournament, the Lady Waves returned home with a 57-47 loss to the Valkyries.
Peyton Bradley led the Meade County scoring effort with 21 points. Sage Crawley added nine points. Aubrey Hardesty and Paige Medley both had five points. Katie Durbin followed with three points, just ahead of Mattie Clanton and Anna Belle Babb with two each.
Clanton led the team at the boards, finishing with six rebounds. Babb, Bradley and Durbin recorded four each. Hardesty followed with three rebounds. Medley and Crawley had one rebound each.
Meade County (6-3) is scheduled to return to the Queen of the Commonwealth today. Its opponent and game time is yet to be announced.
After their yet-to-be announced remaining Queen of the Commonwealth matchups, the Lady Waves’ next scheduled opponent is Russell County on the road at 6 p.m. Dec. 27. This game will be part of Russell County’s Banker’s Hardwood Classic.
