BRANSON, Mo. — Branson is welcoming tourists even as temperatures remain cold on Friday. The number of people visiting Branson is climbing as the city’s reputation seems to grow.
Spring Break is a busy time for Branson, a bit of a dress rehearsal for the city’s even more crowded season in the summer.
Lynn Berry, the Communications Director for the Branson Convention and Visitors Bureau said the snow is welcome if it will mean more people are ready to travel as temperatures rise, “It seemed like it was hitting on weekends for a while there, but we’re still seeing good numbers as we start out the year, Berry said.”
Berry said Branson is currently in the top three destinations on Trip Advisor. Branson ranks behind Hawaii and Charleston. Berry explained, “We’re very excited to see that we have captured an audience on Trip Advisor and that they’re talking about planning a trip to Branson.”
Before the COVID-19 pandemic halted tourism in 2020, Branson had its biggest year yet. More than 9 million people visited Branson in 2019. However, in 2021, sales tax and tourism records were shattered again.
“Anecdotally, we have seen increases in retail, we have seen increases in theater attendance for the ones that were open. And for us, it looks like it’s starting out to be pretty good,” Berry said.
