The Elder Scrolls Online is being removed from Xbox Cloud Gaming for a few months while fixes are being implemented to prevent player disconnects.

Elder Scrolls Online Summerset Chapter Overview

The Elder Scrolls Online is being temporarily removed from Xbox Cloud Gaming. The game will still be accessible for players to download to their consoles and play directly, however the MMORPG will not be available for streaming.

The Elder Scrolls Online has become one of the biggest MMORPGs in the industry since its initial release back in 2014, consistently hitting around 20,000 players a month on Steam. The game has managed to maintain a dedicated playerbase thanks to numerous updates and expansions.

The news was announced on the official Facebook page for The Elder Scrolls Online. The reason for this action lies in the frequent player disconnects that are plaguing players during their time with the game. On a positive note, the Xbox Cloud Gaming team has discovered a fix that should solve the problem. No exact date is given as to when the game will once again be available for players to stream through Xbox Cloud Gaming, although it is expected to take a few months for the fix to be implemented.

The Elder Scrolls Online continues to receive support from the developers, and it’s not unheard of for MMORPGS that are continuously getting updates to occasionally run into some technical issues. The positive side of this news is that the game is still very much playable, as players can simply download the game onto their consoles and continue playing.

This announcement is still likely to irritate a portion of the loyal fan base that has been built up over the last 8 years. Although the option will remain to download and play on console (assuming players have storage space for The Elder Scrolls Online), it does restrict players to playing on console for the time being. The great thing about Xbox Cloud Gaming is the compatible games can be played on pretty much any device, from phones to laptops. As Xbox looks to be pushing more towards the software space, having one of its most in demand games MIA in the cloud space is not going to please players.

That being said, The Elder Scrolls Online is still only a single game out of well over 100 titles available to stream thanks to Game Pass. Even though there will be some disheartened fans out there who are disappointed that they can’t play their favorite MMORPG on the go, there are plenty of other options to fill the void left over until the fix is implemented and Elder Scrolls Online is back up and running through cloud gaming.

The Elder Scrolls Online is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
